Unleashing Creativity: Harnessing the Power of Generative AI for Custom Animation
Today, I want to share an exciting project we've been working on at Dustin Gold Group that showcases the power of generative AI tools in our creative workflow. We are collaborating with the talented Ben Campbell, a renowned emcee, voice artist, broadcaster, and celebrity impressionist, on a project called "Celebrity Chronicles: Interactive Entertainment Experiences."
For this concept, we wanted to create custom animated characters featuring Ben's incredible celebrity, political, and singing voices. To speed up the process, I utilized various generative AI tools, starting with MidJourney for character creation. I refined the character in Adobe Photoshop and placed it on a green screen background using AI-driven masking and selection tools.
Next, I needed to sync the character's mouth movements with the audio. I turned to D-ID, a powerful generative AI animation tool. By loading the character and uploading the voice sample, I was able to generate a talking Donald Trump character in just moments.
Bringing everything together, I imported the rendered video into Adobe Premiere Pro. Using chroma key tools, I removed the green screen and added a video background from Envato, along with midground fog and foreground light leaks to enhance depth. To give the video a polished look, I adjusted colors and added a golden lectern, also created with MidJourney.
With the visuals complete, I incorporated stock music from Envato as the background for Ben's Donald Trump voice. After rendering the final video, the demo was ready to be shared.
This project has allowed us to develop a streamlined animation workflow. Surprisingly, once the basic character artwork, animation-ready characters, and Adobe Premiere Pro sets are prepared, creating a one-minute finished video only takes about 20 minutes. The initial character development and set creation, including workflow preparation, can be accomplished in just two hours per character.
Moving forward, we have much more planned for this project. We will be focusing on branding, marketing, and sales to bring this custom animation service to life. It's an ambitious undertaking, but we are committed to turning dreams into reality.
